Let me start off by saying that I have always been impressed by primeval labs.

They really excel in taking proven supplements to the next level with clinical dosing and transparent labeling.  Most of their products are just outstanding. However, I honestly thought that Mega Test kinda sucked.

I used Mega Test as a PCT following a really strong pro hormone cycle. The 30-day cycle consisted of 1-Andro, 4-Andro, and 19 Nor-Andro. I have used PCTs in the past that put my hormones back in balance within just a few days and increased my libido. So I know what a successful over-the-counter PCT is supposed to feel like.

I felt lethargic and had low sex drive the first two week of using Mega Test as a PCT. These side effect were the result of a hormone imbalance from the prohormones. But a good PCT should mitigate this.

The label directs users to take 5 pills a day. I didn’t experience any noticeable benefits until I decided to double the recommended dosage during the third week.

I think the main problem with this product is that it’s under dosed on the more effective ingredients. Each bottle of Mega Test contains a 30 day supply at 5 capsules a day. For me, doubling down to make this product actually work just wasn’t cost effective.

Mega Test Ingredient Panel

Maca Root Powder 250mg

This herb has been shown to increase libido but there is little evidence to support it being able to raise testosterone levels.

Fenugreek 200mg

There are no available studies that support the use of fenugreek in raising testosterone levels. In a 2009 study published in “Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise,” fenugreek was shown to have no effect on the test subjects hormonal profile.

A rabbit study published in “Contraception” in 2006, fenugreek lowered testosterone and decreased fertility in both genders. Fenugreek contains hormonal precursors and could cause estrogenic effects in the body. Fenugreek is often recommended to nursing mothers to help stimulate lactation.

Magnesium 150mg

Magnesium is a mineral essential to every organ in the body. According to a study published in 2011 in “Biological Trace Element Research” found that supplementation with magnesium was able to increase total free testosterone in both athletes and sedentary individuals.

Magnesium inhibits protein that binds to testosterone and strips it of its anabolic potency called Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG)

Long Jack Root Powder 100mg

Although it may help with libido, studies have shown little influence on male hormone levels.
This is another questionable herb like tribulus.

Arimistane 25mg

Arimistane is an aromatase inhibitor. It prevents estrogen from building up in your body and increases free testosterone. This compound also lowers cortisol levels. You can use this with anabolic, as a PCT, or just by itself to reduce your estrogen levels.

This is one of my favorite supplements and I
use it frequently but the sweet spot is 100mg to 150mg. So once again, underdosed!

Zinc 10mg

One study found that zinc supplementation in men who received 30 milligrams of zinc per day showed increased levels of free testosterone in their bodies. Therefore it is under dosed on this ingredient as well.

However, another study showed that zinc supplementation doesn’t raise testosterone levels if you already getting enough of the mineral in your diet. The s whose daily diets included the recommended amounts of zinc.

High levels of zinc does result in increased semen volume for most people. Try 150mg per day to get this “side effect”.

Vitamin D3 1000IU

Vitamin D3 is one of the most important supplements that a man can take for optimum testosterone production. This is because the body actually uses vitamin D and cholesterol to make the hormone. Sadly, there isn’t enough in this product.

Studies show that you have to supplement with 3,000 to 5,000 iu per day to see results. I personally take 5,000iu every day.

DAA 2000mg

D-Aspartic Acid has too much conflicting data to deem it as a viable ingredient. All the studies have been done on rats, not humans.

Here is what I gather based of the published research on rodents. It helps create more Luteinzing Hormone (LH) if the subject does not have sufficient hormone production. However, one study showed it to lower testosterone after 14 days of use in fertile subjects with healthy testosterone levels.

Tribulus Terrestris 95% 750mg

This ingredient is a complete waste of your money and there are no studies to prove it to be effective in raising testosterone levels. This supplement has been sold over the counter for nearly 20 years to gullible consumers who just want results. Too bad that it just doesn’t work.

I just don’t think that Mega Test has that great of an ingredient profile.

The ingredients that actually work are too underdosed to cause any major increases in testosterone levels. The problem may have been in the manor which I used the product, as it is marketed as a ‘test booster’ rather than a PCT. So, this may be still be an interesting product for people looking for a little help with their libido.

There are better supplements than Mega Test that are worth you money.

One specific product by Primeval Labs that I would recommend is Erosion. This is the best anti-estrogen product on the market with the highest amount of arimistane. This is completely legal and a great bang for your buck.

If you want to go the herbal route, I would highly suggest Ashwagandha. This is the only Herbal Testosterone booster that actually has data to back it up.

I use it because it actually works unlike Tribulus and all that other crap that people waste money on. This is a supplement I recommend for anyone because of the amazing health benefits. It is especially great for anyone who needs to rebalance his/her hormones. Here’s the link to the study.
