This is a question that any long term lifter will ask themselves at some point. There’s a lot of misinformation about how many athletes and fitness models are actually using steroids .
Most rappers, actors, and athletes claim that their lean and muscular body was nothing but hard work and diet to get ready for their movie roll or photo shoot. But most of these people are lying because they know that they could lose their jobs and sponsorships if they told the truth.
So to answer the question of how big can you get naturally, we must go back to a time before performance-enhancing drugs were ever available.
Take a look at THIS picture of Eugene Sandow. He was a pioneering German bodybuilder and is now known as the father of bodybuilder. The golden era of his career was in the early 1900s before steroids were ever even created and when men had much better testosterone levels.
It’s been shown in numerous studies that the testosterone levels of our forefathers were much higher than ours. There is no doubt that our modern diets and all of the food additives have played a huge role.
There are many things in our everyday environment which disrupt our hormone production called xenoestrogens. These xenoestrogens are present in air fresheners, insecticides, and even get in to our food from the BPA in plastics. This causes an increase in estrogen levels and lowers testosterone.
Keep in mind that Eugene also had some pretty damn good genetics, coupled with decades of a very strict and focused workout routine. Also keep in mind that looking this way was Eugene’s job and had come to the point of a money earning career.
So this physique is the best that someone could probably ever hope for. And thats if they have really good genetics.
Most people can achieve their natural plateau after two years of consistent training and diet.
After that point, progress will more than likely hit a barrier. This is the point when youll have to decide if you are going to be content with the hand that you were dealt. Or refuse to accept mediocrity and take it to take it to the next level.
There are always going to be people that say you just have to lift heavier weights or workout more and you can get as big as you want. Well, the human body has biological limitations as to what it can do. And I don’t care what Rich Piana says about eating 15 meals a day! All that excessive food will just start turning into fat a thing some point. Studies have proven that a caloric surplus of 300 to 500 calories is sufficient for muscle growth.
Maybe you want to be big, but don’t want to do anything illegal.
Taking it to the next level will likely require altering your bodies chemistry. But most people choose not to do steroids because they don’t want to break the law or use needles.
But science has made many leaps and bounds over the past decade and there are compounds available that will provide results while also keeping you legal.
