Noopept is an nootropic capable of enhancing brain or mental function. Noopept was created by Rita Ostrovskaya (Russian neuroscientist with a background in molecular biology) and patented by a Russian-based pharmaceutical company in 1996.

This nootropic is similar in action to the racetam-class nootropics but I consider it more of a neuropeptide as the primary compound responsible for its efficacy is a peptide called cycloprolylglycine (CPG).

Noopept Benefits

This nootropic works by elevating concentrations of (CPG) in the brain to help modulate and restore both glutamate and acetylcholine function which protects your brain from damage. When brain cells are starved of oxygen, glutamate does not work efficiently with neuroreceptors. This can cause a toxic buildup of glutamate that can result in neuron damage.

But this it can also result in mental enhancement characteristics such as boosting cognition, memory, learning, recall, mood and relieve anxiety.

Positive effects found either by anecdote or research:

Noopept Intranasal Dosage vs Oral

The problem with Noopept is that it has a pretty poor oral bioavailability in humans (less than 10%). A 2020 article by The Neurochemical Journal compared various administration routes of various neuropeptides (Semax, Selank, and Noopept) showed that the nootropic efficiency was higher after intranasal administration. This is likely because of an increased uptake through the nasal mucus membrane!

Because of it’s poor oral bioavailability, this nootropic has to be taken at large dosages. Orally ingested, it metabolizes fairly quickly. Therefor, it needs to be taken multiple times per day. So the safe oral Noopept dosage is 10mg to 40mg spaced out between 2 or 3 doses per day.

Studies have shown that oral Noopept is only one tenth the potency compared to injection. My own anecdotal research has lead me to believe that intranasal administration falls somewhere in between. I find 10mg to 20mg of nasally administered Noopept is extremely effective. The product from Amino Asylum I use contains 5mg per spray. Therefor, one spray up each nostril is an ideal entry level dose. And a more advanced dose would simply doubled (2 sprays up each nostril).

Where to buy Noopept Nasal Spray

I’ve been using this inotropic for years as a important part of my encognitive enhancement protocols. And I can 100% attest that the compound is much more effective administered nasally. Amino Asylum has an outstanding nasal spray currently available for your research needs!

The second source I recommend is Protogenis Research who has a line of nasal sprays with uptake enhancers added to increase bioavailability. I recently did a review article on Protogenis HERE.
