The number one reason why you are not successful is because you have not made the right commitment. You may have set goals and acted on them to achieve your success. But have you given yourself permission to be completely obsessed?
Our society has taught us that obsession is a bad thing. The obsession is often used with negative things habits like drug abuse and in some sort of weird perversion. However, if you look back through history, every single person that we remember to this day was obsessed with whatever their mission was in life.
Guys like Van Gogh or Leonardo Da Vinci would be set up for failure in todays society. The second a therapist analyzed one of these guys, they would be prescribed all kinds of drugs for ADD, ADHD, OCD, and every other acronym you can think of.
What some consider flaws, you can turn into strengths!
Many people who are introverted are labeled as having social anxiety disorders. And some of the most successful people have ever met were very introverted. They simply use this perceive flaw as a way to focus on what they wanted. Then they take measures to create the perfect environment to achieve their goals.
Obsessive people might come off as eccentric, weird, or hyperactive to our society. But those characteristics are not the problem.
The problem is that people today are not comfortable with things that don’t seem average. Every single thing around us points in the direction of pushing people to just be average. Your told to set down and don’t be heard. Don’t talk too much and don’t raise too many eyebrows. Just play it safe and don’t take chances because you might fail.
Our world is uncomfortable with people who are not average and cant be satisfied because they desire more in life!
Just think about all the times you try to fit in and be average. Was it everything you hoped it would’ve been and are those people still with you today? The truth is that being average has never done anything to progress people further towards their goals.
In order to achieve your desired success, you half to change your mindset. You have to give yourself complete permission to be obsessed with reaching your goals. Thus, embracing the idea that being average is no longer an option if you are to get what you want.
In your journey towards doing this you will face many naysayers. The naysayers might even be some of the people that you love most like family and best friends. They’ll tell that if you don’t succeed that’s OK because they love you just how you are. This is toxic form of encouragement that is telling you that it’s OK to settle for less than what you are actually worth.
You should never be OK with yourself if you know that you are not reaching your true potential!
The naysayers don’t want you to take risks. They want you to stay down in the dirt with them where it safe. I don’t understand that you’re not OK with being average. They don’t understand that your life is destined for more than just working a 9-to-5 and paying your mortgage on time. If they did understand, they would be faced with the uncomfortable task of coming to terms with their own untapped potential and unrealized greatness.
But the minute you prove them wrong and achieve massive success, their attitudes will change. They will be the first people to say “great job, I always knew you could do it.”
Doing what society of expects of you is a losing formula. Being average will crush your soul. Do you think that people like Steve Jobs or Elon Musk decided to follow that formula? No, they became so infatuated with huge goals like going to Mars and developing the worlds greatest computer system, to the point that they were labeled insane. In truth, they realized and committed to their goals then allowed themselves to be fully obsessed. Their obsessions became greatness because they decided to never settle and be uncompromising in their dreams.
The definition of being obsessed.
Obsession: A state in which someone thinks about someone or something constantly or frequently especially in a way that is not normal
Based on its definition, obsession certainly doesn’t sound like a bad thing at all. Especially, if you are unsatisfied with just settling for whats normal and mundane. Being average and normal never got anyone anywhere, other than a feeling of regret latter in life.
Without obsession you’ll never obtain success and therapeutically allow yourself to remain average.
Become upset asked with your goals and do not allow yourself to don’t become just another drop in the rain. Become obsessed with becoming successful. Do everything that you can and seek out as much knowledge as possible.
Whatever it is that you want to achieve, fully commit to becoming obsessed about it until you get it.
There are a million opportunities that are available today that did not exist just 10 years ago. Many people just don’t know how to take advantage of those opportunities. People have ideas that often never come to fruition due to procrastination. There is a price for procrastination, and it is the loss of hopes and dreams.
